There is much debate about the effect of currency wars on gold and its future direction. Currently, the fundamentals of gold are muddled. On the one hand, central banks continue to print lots of money, and some believe currency wars are imminent. On the other hand, inflation is stable, and the metals are under the control of the momentum crowd, which represents weak hands. Under such circumstances, it makes sense to turn to the long-term technical analysis for gold for guidance.

179% RETURN ON SHALLOW WATER DRILLER – HERO $HERO

These posts were just published on ZYX Buy Change Alert.

The position is long with an average price of $2.55.  Currently, 50% of the full core position size is being held.  Profits have been taken as high as $6.00.

The company reported earnings this morning and the stock traded as high as  $7.60 in the pre-market and has now pulled back to $7.14.  This represents 179%  return.

HERO reported earnings of $.03 vs consensus of $.07 and revenues of $202.6 million vs consensus of $187.8 million.

Those in the stock may continue to hold.

IWATCH MAY HELP APPLE FLY THROUGH $500 $AAPL

Apple stock faces stiff resistance in the zone of $497 to $514. The reason is that Apple is still over-owned as well as overweight in many portfolios. It is difficult to say what retail investors will do when Apple stock approaches $500, but professionals who are overweight Apple stock are likely to lighten up. Such lightening up will create resistance.

Recently, I shared a short-term trade idea on Apple AAPL. So far, the trade is working out well, as shown on the updated chart. The target zone shown on the chart is also the resistance zone.

BLACKBERRY PICKS A STRANGE WAY TO BEAT APPLE WITH A THOUSAND-DOLLAR PHONE $AAPL $BBRY $T $S $VZ $GOOG

The first carrier to introduce the BlackBerry Z10 in the U.S. is not Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, or T-Mobile.  It is a carrier that you have probably never heard of.  Solavei, a relatively new phone carrier, is introducing Z10 for a price of $999. You can buy it on their website with a promise of 24 to 48 hour shipment.

The price is perplexing.  An iPhone 5 without a contract is available at Wal-Mart for $649, and for $200 from carriers who demand a two-year contract. MONEY FLOWS OUT OF APPLE AND INTO BLACKBERRY $AAPL $BBRY $T $VZ $HD

Yesterday trading in Apple and BlackBerry was a show of contrast.

Apple rose about 1% and BlackBerry fell 4.6%.  Of interest is that money flow was negative in Apple while the stock was going up and money flow in BlackBerry was positive while the stock was going down.

Apple had lots of good news.  There was excitement from the rumors of iWatch.  There was positive anticipation of what Tim Cook would say today at the Goldman Sachs conference.  Apple was also experiencing a tailwind from David Einhorn’s revolt against Apple.
