DOUBLE WHAMMY FOR APPLE $AAPL $NOK $GS $GOOG $BBRY

As if Apple needed more trouble, here comes a double whammy. First, Apple CEO Tim Cook had to apologize to the Chinese consumers. Second, Apple got a downgrade from a big Wall Street supporter.

A popular new segment on China Central Television highlighted how Apple discriminated against Chinese consumers with its warranties and after-sales service. The Chinese media called Apple ‘greedy and arrogant.’ Cook is trying to take the sting out, “We always pay tribute to China, Chinese consumer is always the most important thing in our minds.”

NEW IDEA ON FACEBOOK $FB

FB came public at $38, fell to $17.55, ran up to $32.52 and now has fallen back to $25.72 as of this writing. On Thursday there is a Facebook event. The invitation says, “Our new home on Android.” Rumors abound about a Facebook phone using HTC hardware running a highly customized flavor of Android. It is official: India is siding with poor cancer patients over profits for multinational drug giants.

The Supreme Court of India has rejected a plea by Swiss pharma giant Novartis that ends the seven-year legal battle to restrict Indian companies from copying blood cancer drug Glivec. Novartis had filed a plea with the Supreme Court after the Intellectual Property Appellate Board had rejected a patent claim for Glivec.

Glivec is marketed as Gleevec in the United States. In 2001, Time magazine called it the magic bullet for cancer patients.
