Over all, incomes of Americans have gone up due to government programs.  American consumers are being smart in saving more and paying down debt. Over the last three months, Americans have paid back a record $104 billion in credit card debt.

All of the foregoing is good for the U. S. economy and the stock market.  Counterbalancing this positive behavior by the American consumer is the reckless borrowing by the politicians.
