It is no secret that Google (GOOG) missed the boat on social networking when the time was ripe. Now Google is chasing Facebook with Google+.
Google+ is well designed. Some experts consider Google+ to be a better design than Facebook. Google+ has met with some initial success. It is too early to tell if the initial success will last or whether it is simply the result of Google+ being a novelty.
There is no denying that content on Google+ is sparse compared to Facebook.
Now Google has a new secret weapon to battle Facebook. The new weapon is called ‘œSearch plus Your World’.
In a blog post, this is how Google describes this new weapon:

Sometimes that means results from the public web, but sometimes it means your personal content or things shared with you by people you care about. These wonderful people and this rich personal content is currently missing from your search experience. Although Google goes to great length to avoid implying that this is a weapon directed against Facebook and Twitter, it is difficult to look at it any other way.
