It is extremely important to protect large unrealized profits. For example, AAPL is long from $4.68. It is trading at $194.20 as of this writing. Thus, there are very large unrealized profits. There are existing hedges. It is time to add to the hedges.
Consider adding to the hedges on bounces by scaling in.
The trigger for the call is Apple is working on adding AI search to its browser. Currently, Apple does not have plans to make a general search engine. Nonetheless, this development is negative for both AAPL and GOOG stocks. Here are the key points:
- Google pays over $20B per year to Apple to make Google the default search engine. This payment is at risk.
- Traditional search queries are decreasing.
- A judge has ruled that Google is a monopolist. Central to the government’s case is Google’s payments to Apple.
For those who want to learn about hedging, the Hedge The Risks Seminar is available.
Those who do not know how to hedge may consider trimming on up moves. Please see the Trade Management Guidelines on how to appropriately book partial profits.
