Leave it to Apple (AAPL) to solve all of our problems and make our lives easier. For most of us, passwords are a hassle. Now Apple is about to make passwords obsolete. On Dec 29, 2011, the United States Patent and Trademark Office published a patent application by Apple titled Low Threshold Face Recognition. As an electrical engineer with a long background in patents, I recognize that most patents do not amount to anything. But this patent is different. In my opinion, Apple is once again about to change how we function in our daily lives. Imagine no more passwords.

I was earlier alerted by a reader that North Korea may fire missiles on Christmas tree towers in South Korea. Hostilities between the two Koreas are well known. It is no secret that North Korea does not like Christianity. But in 2011, it is hard to fathom anyone would go to war over Christmas trees. APPLE PATENT VICTORY AGAINST HTC DOESN’T CRIPPLE GOOGLE’S ANDROID

The U.S. International Commission (ITC) ruled today that HTC has infringed claims 1 and 8 of the ‘647 patent on system and method for performing an action on a structure in computer-generated data held by Apple(AAPL). ITC has banned the importation of infringing HTC phones in the U.S. HTC phones run on Google (GOOG) Android system. The ban will go into effect on April 19, 2012.
