Our methodology required to continue scaling in UYG in spite of large draw down. The strategy seems to have succeeded. Normally we do not recommend scaling in over such a wide range, but in this case our indicators dictated extreme aggressive buying around $1.5. The staring point was a light scale in at over $6 and the residual position if any from prior profitable trade. Our average is $2.6. Merck had the best two day gain ever in its history. After a 38% gain, this afternoon smart money was selling in the wake of massive short covering as measured by our proprietary studies. The initial trigger to the upside today was an analyst upgrade. Nothing fundamental has changed in our view that Obama Health Plan will pressure big pharma. Schering-Plough SGP acquisition does not solve MRK’s problems. MRK has paid a full price and there is still a possibility of a bidding war with Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) over SGP. SLT is finally closing purchase of Asarco out of the Bankruptcy Court for One billion dollars less than the original proposal. SLT is not only buying a major copper producer on the cheap, it is likely that the purchase is occurring close to the bottom of this price cycle in copper.
