Record Job Openings
Please click here for a chart of Nasdaq 100 ETF (QQQ).
Note the following:
- The chart shows that the rise in QQQ has been restrained due to mild selling by smart money.
- Unfilled jobs rose to 10.1M in June – an all-time record. Unfilled job openings rose by 590K.
- Unfilled job openings now exceed people seeking employment.
- The Fed has been insisting on continuing to print money and keep interest rates artificially near zero to help the unemployed and to help prices of homes from crashing.
- The Fed policy is the single biggest determinant of future stock prices right now.
- The momo crowd is aggressively buying ignoring the job news as the momo believes the Fed will continue to pursue its non-sensical policies.
- The risk to the stock market is the potential that the Fed may be boxed as we described in Friday’s Morning and Afternoon Capsules. There is the potential of the Fed being forced to pursue more sensible policies.
- The gold market is already tuning into the prospect of the Fed pursuing more sensible policies. Gold is falling as the demand for gold will decrease if the Fed were to start pursuing more sensible policies. Of course, as is usually the case, the momo crowd in the stock market is oblivious to the new developments.
- The VUD indicator is the most sensitive measure of net supply demand in real-time. The orange represents net supply and the green represents net demand.
- The VUD indicator as shown on the chart is mostly green due to strong demand by the momo crowd.
