Apple‘s iPad reigns supreme in the tablet world, but an iPad killer may now be on the horizon. Market share estimates vary but most estimates see Apple steadily holding about 70% of the market share.
The onslaught of Nexus 7 from Google, even at the low $199 price point has not diminished the luster of iPads just like Kindles from Amazon did not damage the iPad franchise.
You probably already know that an epic trial between Samsung and Apple is in progress in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. I carefully studied filings in the trial and I’m keeping a close eye on the trial proceedings although I am not attending it in person.
The premise behind my investment method is that the most money is made with the lowest risk by successfully predicting change before the crowd. Both Apple and Samsung are highly secretive companies. It is difficult to come by credible information early on about their plans. Fortunately, the litigation between the two companies is a treasure trove of useful information otherwise not available.
A nugget from the trial is Samsung’s tablet roadmap. The roadmap shows a tablet code named P10. P10 apparently is an 11.8 inch tablet that outdoes Apple’s retina display. The P10 supposedly has a pixel density of 256 ppi and a resolution of 2560 x 1600 (WQXGA). The tablet also seems to provide LTE connectivity.
The court documents indicate that P10 is a 2012 product. Considering it is already August, the introduction of P10 cannot be far off. There is no doubt that Samsung will do a better job than Apple at the electronics hardware….Read more at Forbes
