Our insight regarding production glitches hit the bull’s eye when the company reported earnings and the stock dropped as much as $15 in the after hours. Our insight in advance of covering in after hours also hit bull’s eye as even large sizes could be covered in thirties around $38. Settlement with Nokia is a major change. Going forward, not only there will a be major reduction in ongoing legal costs, but more importantly a major distraction will be gone. Further , it is logical that in due course NOK ( Nokia ) and QCOM cooperate towards higher per unit wholesale selling price. Since QCOM gets royalties on wholesale prices, this will be a major positive. About half of the revenues are royalties. WFR reports earnings after the close today. Our proprietary measurements show that the traders have been aggressive buyers this week and are positioned for bullish news. American Technology recommended buying this morning prior to earnings. The Wall Street has not caught up to changes happening at WFR — production hitches, higher costs and lower shipments. More than likely, the company’s earning report will be disappointing. Further, it is likely MMEC will lower guidance. Roche’s acquisition of DNA ( Genentech ) shows change of the company’s long practiced successful strategy by the new CEO. This indicates lack of confidence in the prior strategy. The new strategy is in reality integration of autonomous subsidiaries, although Roche does not characterize this way. We believe there will be a culture shock in the entire organization as we believe there are likely to be more changes to the existing strategies.
